چکیده

In this paper, we propose an application of the Analytic Hierarchy Process to survey research to overcome the deficiency of traditional questionnaire methods. The procedure of the AHP results in not only the identification of the most important alternative but also the preference of all alternatives for each respondent. Therefore, by applying the AHP to survey questionnaire, eliciting respondent's opinion more precisely than by traditional methods may be expected. This study showed that the weights derived from the AHP improved R in regression analysis, which had Feeling Scores as independent variables and respondent’s political slant as dependent variable.

Generalizing observational study results: applying propensity score methods to complex surveys.

OBJECTIVE To provide a tutorial for using propensity score methods with complex survey data. DATA SOURCES Simulated data and the 2008 Medical Expenditure Panel Survey. STUDY DESIGN Using simulation, we compared the following methods for estimating the treatment effect: a naïve estimate (ignoring both survey weights and propensity scores), survey weighting, propensity score methods (nearest ...

Sampling Variances for Surveys With Weighting, Poststrati cation, and Raking

It is common practice to use weighting, poststratiication, and raking to correct for sampling and nonsampling biases and to improve eeciency of estimation in sample surveys. However, there is no standard method for computing sampling variances of estimates that use these adjustments in combination. In this paper we develop such a method, using three ideas: (1) a general notation that uniies the...

Calibration Weighting to Compensate for Extreme Values, Non-response and Non-coverage in Labor Force Survey

Frame imperfection, non-response and unequal selection probabilities always affect survey results. In order to compensate for the effects of these problems, Devill and Särndal (1992) introduced a family of estimators called calibration estimators. In these estimators we look for weights that have minimum distance with design weights based on a distance function and satisfy calibration equa...

Weighting Adjustments for Panel Nonresponse

1 Summary Although similar to weighting for unit nonresponse in cross-sectional surveys, adjustment for panel non-response needs to incorporate information about nonrespondents collected in the early waves of the panel. We review different weighting adjustments for panel nonresponse and discuss methods for incorporating complex survey design variables into the weighting adjustments. We propose ...

Two-Phase Sampling and Weighting

Non-response or other missingness may be occurred in various forms. In this paper, we consider unit non-response, and hence make attempts for adjustments by appropriate weighting. Our special exercise is concerned a two-phase sampling case so that, first, a large sample survey has been conducted with a rather general questionnaire. In the end of this face-to-face contact the interviewer has ask...
